Anna R. Koplik, originally from New Jersey, graduated with a BFA in Jewelry from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY where she discovered her love for metalwork and forging. While in college she found craft schools and took a couple of bladesmithing classes Then after graduating in 2015, she shifted her focus to blacksmithing, took more classes, and worked as a blacksmithing assistant. From there, Anna was hooked on blacksmithing and began traveling, working at craft schools and as a journeyman architectural smith, teaching blacksmithing workshops, and going on adventures whenever possible.

Anna has a passion for educating and showing beginner smiths the many different possibilities blacksmithing has to offer. She is especially excited about making blacksmithing as welcoming and accessible to everyone as possible, and encouraging people who may be intimidated by the craft to feel empowered to try forging. Anna is a proud member of the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths, a group committed to building equity and diversity in the field of blacksmithing. She is also one of the coordinators of the SIBs Mentorship Program, which helps connect and support blacksmiths from all over the world.

Anna's personal work focuses mainly on tool and utensil making, and combining functionality with a refined, delicate aesthetic. She often focuses on hammer and tong making, enjoying the pure functionality of these tools and her ability to make exactly the tool she needs and customize tools for the individual needs of others. She also does a lot of spoon forging with an emphasis on small forgings and forge-to-finish work.

Anna has worked at Peters Valley School of Craft, Atlas Forge, Touchstone Center for Crafts, Spirit Ironworks, Center for Metal Arts, Davis Metalsmiths, Kjellman-Chapin Smeder, Caleb Kullman Studio, Michael Bondi Metal Design, and MDO Welding and Fabrication. She has taught at a variety of craft schools, including Penland School of Crafts, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, John C. Campbell Folk School, New England School of Metalwork, Peters Valley School of Craft, Touchstone Center for Crafts, Center for Metal Arts and more. Anna has also done residencies at Touchstone Center for Crafts, New Agrarian School, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Penland School of Crafts, Center for Metal Arts, and Salem Art Works.
